a few days ago, my mother bought me a book "little prince". i like this book very much, so long as i get home, i will read it whenever i have time. after reading the book "little prince", i got a lot of inspiration from it.

the whole book is like this: once a little prince lived on a planet that was only one of him, watering his roses every day. later, the little prince left the planet to travel, and saw a lot of other strange stars on other planets. he came to the earth and saw a pilot in a desert. the little prince had deep friendship with the pilot, but he missed his rose very much. in order to leave the earth, the little prince was bitten by a snake, then the pilots have never seen him.

after reading this book, i finally understood what a pure mind is. the little prince loved his rose deeply, so he asked the pilot to bring the mask to the sheep so that the flowers could not be eaten. for him, his rose is different from all the roses on the earth. if the flowers are gone, it is as if all the stars have lost their radiance. i really like the little prince in the book, because he has snow and pure soul. what a sincere feeling this is!

i like this book very much, this book teaches me a lot of people, in fact, sometimes the big people do a lot of stupid things, their practice is not always right. i think in our growth process, as long as we keep a pure heart forever, we will find what we are really looking for.

thoughts on great expectations

during the last month, i have been reading the novel named great expectations by charles dickens. i set up my mind to finish reading it for the simple reason that i have read the chinese version of this great novel and i was deeply attracted by the story.

the main character in this novel is pip and the whole story goes like this: pip was a orphan and was brought up by his sister “by hand”. his sister mrs. joe was very strict with him while his brother-in-law treat him kindly. as a result, the two developed a intimate relationship. since pip was asked to visit miss havishams’s house, his mind and his fate began to change. in miss havishams’s home, pip saw her adopted daughter estella and fell in love with her at the first sight. then he was determined to be well-educated and become a gentleman in order to deserve the beautiful girl estella. and much to his delight, he was given a large sum of money and an opportunity to study abroad by an anonymous person. after a period of time, his great expectations came true and he became a gentleman at last. however, he found out that the money was offered by the criminal he had saved when he was young. he felt ashamed and didn’t want to use the money any more. what’s worse, the criminal magwitch escaped from prison to visit pip and was noticed by the police. at last, magwitch was sentenced to death and pip led a normal life. the beautiful lady became a widow as her husband died. but pip still loved her and promised to be friends with her all the same. this ending is a bit reaasuring.

among those several characters in the novel, my favourite is magwitch. he was homeless and poor when he was young and he used to be put into prison several times. no one cared about him, so when little pip saved him by giving him some food, he felt moved. and he bore pip’s help in his mind. when he was exiled overseas, he was determined to make a lot of money and help pip become a gentleman. he worked hard and saved every coin he could, and then sent it to pip. he did all of these secretly in order to prevent little pip from being embarrassed. after pip became a real gentleman, magwitch returned to england in secret only to see whether pip had led a good life. what we can find from him is deep love for pip. although the society has deserted him, he is not deserted by himself. different from miss havishams who is black-hearted, magwitch is like a father. he showed his love to pip without any hesitation. he was just like pip’s father. this is why i admire him very much.

then when i look back into our society, i find that some parents are not as good as the criminal magwitch. cases are that parents push their children to work hard in order to be admitted into the college where they were eager to go when they were young. this usually leads to two consequences. one is that the children are exerted too much pressure and they go to extremes. the other is that their children do as they are told to and don’t have their independent thinking. they lack the comprehensive abilities to cope with fierce competition in today’s society. in other words, they are likely to survive in this competitive world.

god is equal to everyone. when magwitch knew that estella was his daughter and had been loved by pip, he felt relieved. i am also relieved because one good turn deserves another.

recently, i read a tale of two cities. i think that it’s a good novel.

first, i want to introduce the author of this book .his name is charles dickens, he is an outstanding writer. he is one of the greatest writers in the 19 century. however, he had a painful childhood. he was arrested when he was 10 years old due to household debt. he had only a few years of learning. so, in his early years, his works are more about the painful children. he criticized the black of capitalism and had the sympathy for the poor. now, let me introduce this novel. the background of this book is the french revolution. before the revolution, the young doctor .manette witnessed the guilty of the french marquis. so he was arrested in the bastille by the marquis. after two years, his wife died. his daughter lucie was send to london by his friends lorry and adopted by the miss pross who is a maidservant. after 18 years, he was released from the bastille and was taken care by his old servant defarge. his daughter wanted to take his father to london. in the travel, she met the son of the marquis charles darnay who hated the guilty of his father and uncle. then they loved each other. and now, charles dannay’s father had died, so manette wanted to forget the painful memory and hoped his daughter happy. so he agreed with them. in 1789, france break the revolution. all of the marquises was send to the guillotine. because the darnay was a marquis. so the defarge read the report which was written by the doctor. then dannay was sentenced to death. now carton who always hidden loved lucie went to the prison and he pretended dannay. so dannay escaped the prison. and carton was killed. however madame defarge still not gave up. she wanted to killed dannay’s wife lucie and their young child; finally she was burned by the pross.

after read this novel, let me know about the french revolution. i think the people who lived in that period were not lucky. the poor were very sad. they were too blindness. and i was moved the carton, he died for his love, and i like him very much.

it seems to me that many readers’english reading experience starts with jane eyer.i am of no exception.as we refer to the movie“jane eyer”,it is not surprising to find some differences because of its being filmized and retold in a new way,but the spirit of the novel remains----to be an independent person,both physically and mentally.

jane eyer was a born resister,whose parents went off when she was very young,and her aunt，the only relative she had，treated her as badly as a ragtag.since jane’s education in lowwood orphanage began,she didn’t get what she had been expecting——simply being regarded as a common person,just the same as any other girl around.the suffers from being humiliated and devastated teach jane to be persevering and prize dignity over anything else.as a reward of revolting the ruthless oppression,jane got a chance to be a tutor in thornfield garden.there she made the acquaintance of lovely adele and that garden’s owner,rochester,a man with warm heart despite a cold face outside.jane expected to change the life from then on,but fate had decided otherwise:after jane and rochester fell in love with each other and got down to get marry,she unfortunately came to know in fact rochester had got a legal wife,who seemed to be the shadow following rochester and led to his moodiness all the time----rochester was also a despairing person in need of salvation.jane did want to give him a hand,however,she made up her mind to leave,because she didn’t want to betray her own principles,because she was jane eyer.the film has finally got a symbolist end:jane inherited a large number of legacies and finally returned.after finding rochester’s misfortune brought by his original mad wife,jane chose to stay with him forever.

i don’t know what others feel,but frankly speaking,i would rather regard the section that jane began her teaching job in thornfield as the film’s end----especially when i heard jane’s words“never in my life have i been awaken so happily.”for one thing,this ideal and brand-new beginning of life was what jane had been imagining for long as a suffering person;for another,this should be what the audiences with my views hoped her to get.but the professional judgment of producing films reminded me to wait for a totally different result:there must be something wrong coming with the excellence----perhaps not only should another section be added to enrich the story,but also we may see from the next transition of jane’s life that“life is like a box of chocolates,you never know what you would get.”
